Kanye West (June Eighteenth Album) Cover
Last week Kanye West tweeted “June Eighteeth” and it is assumed that’s his *currently unnamed*album release date. Kanye will appear on Saturday Night Live later this month and presumably perform new music. Should be an interesting May and June!
Whether this is an album or not that Kanye is alluding to, I decided to do some artwork that can be used as the cover art for this project. I had nothing to go off of as far as sound or title so I just ran with the idea behind some of his style. Kanye has recently been wearing furs, hiking boots and camo; so with this cover I tried recreating a thermal imagery camera. Featured in the cover is a hand drawn original silhouette of Kanye wearing the Margiela diamond mask. Inside the silhouette is the original image of Kanye with said mask.

THIS IS NOT AND NEVER WAS OFFICIAL: Rich Gang “Tap Out” Cover
Sometime later today Birdman is dropping the first “Rich Gang” single featuring himself, Weezy, Nicki and Future. I slept on the idea for the cover and had to wake up and make it happen.
UPDATE: THIS COVER IS NOT AND NEVER EVER WAS OFFICIAL. Yes I have done some official work in the past but this is simply a cover for personal use or for people to look at. When making the cover I searched through images on Google and found the mask that I used….just so happens that it’s associated with some “Stompdown” group. Never heard of them until this cover was released and I never intended to use their logo. Sorry if anyone feels like this is “stealing” but it definitely was not intended in that way. By doing some research there are other places that use this silhouette and seem to be making profit off of it…for example if you search Ski Mask Movement a clothing brand appears using the same logo. They are claiming it as their own and I certainly am not.
ALSO…by doing some research I have found that the logo for “Stompdown” is the same thing/very very similar to what you get when you use the live trace feature on Adobe Illustrator on the below image…

…nothing wrong with that. That’s fine. But my point is that someone else could and is likely to simply “live trace” that image in the future thus recreating the same logo that “Stompdown” uses.
So in conclusion, I used the silhouette that I used because that’s all it was…a silhouette. I had no way of knowing but now that I do I am in fact giving credit to “Stompdown” as they claim it as their logo.
And once again, this cover is not and never was official.

Marina & the Diamonds “E.V.O.L” Cover
Yesterday Marina & The Diamonds released a new song called “E.V.O.L” and it’s been on repeat ever since. Recently I’ve become a fan of Marina…she’s really good and her art direction is awesome. I like who she seems to be. Her music is also very good.
Is love really evil or is it the people for make it evil? Marina made her case on this track. She says “It only takes 2 people to fuck love up and make it evil”. I tried using that quote to make the cover. I show 2 people in the form of devils on the left and right side. They’re reaching for the heart thus creating it into a monster.

OFFICIAL: Duawn “Nobody’s Safe” Cover
Say hello to some DieboltDesigns client work. I’ve been talking to Duawn for a couple months now. He’s talented guy from right here in Charlotte, NC and he’s releasing his first mixtape soon! I have a good feeling that he’ll create some buzz around here in the future.
I was proud to create the cover for Duawn’s tape. As for the cover itself, I honestly have to say it’s one of my favorites that I’ve ever done. Obviously based on the name “Nobody’s Safe” you can infer that someones out to get everyone. That person who’s out to get you? Yeah, it’s Duawn. Who’s everyone? Any rapper you can possibly name. Doesn’t matter if they are a legend of the past or superstar of the present…there’s no reason to NOT aim for those who are at the top.
The cover’s background features a zombie baseball player holding a bat, while in the foreground are 3 “baseball cards” featuring the Past, Present and Future.

Drake “Started From The Bottom” Cover (#2)
Well I swear this started as just a personal project. I’ve been into hand drawn stuff lately and wanted to do a poster. I decided to mess around and try to come up with something based on the picture Drake posted on the October’s Very Own blog for “Started From The Bottom”…and then I just naturally came up with a cover a couple hours later. This obviously isn’t my normal style but it’s definitely a direction I’m headed in. I figure since Drake is trying something different with his single I might as well try something different with my artwork.
Yes I could’ve used the same font seen on the billboard in the picture, but I didn’t. This is a representation of the picture. Not meant to be perfect.

Well finally the Drake drought is close to ending. He’s been recording his new album ever since Take Care dropped back in November of 2011…and just in the past couple days he has begun recording a music video for the yet to be released single “Started From The Bottom”. Now that this song title has been confirmed I went ahead and made a cover for it. I used a picture from Ruben Rivera’s post on the official OVO blog. Below is a picture from the video shoot!

This track leaked off Wayne upcoming “I Am Not A Human Being 2″ album which is due out in February. The songs is pretty hot, I can’t wait to hear the official CD quality version.
The hook of the song says “Look at you, now look at us…all my ni**as look rich as fuck!”. So I figured….with the cover I did…..what better way to look rich than to look like money itself. I even added Wayne’s crazy new “BAKED” forehead tattoo!
