Kanye West (June Eighteenth Album) Cover

KW copy2

Last week Kanye West tweeted “June Eighteeth” and it is assumed that’s his *currently unnamed*album release date. Kanye will appear on Saturday Night Live later this month and presumably perform new music. Should be an interesting May and June!

Whether this is an album or not that Kanye is alluding to, I decided to do some artwork that can be used as the cover art for this project. I had nothing to go off of as far as sound or title so I just ran with the idea behind some of his style. Kanye has recently been wearing furs, hiking boots and camo; so with this cover I tried recreating a thermal imagery camera. Featured in the cover is a hand drawn original silhouette of Kanye wearing the Margiela diamond mask. Inside the silhouette is the original image of Kanye with said mask.

OFFICIAL: Duawn “Nobody’s Safe” Cover

nscover copy2

Say hello to some DieboltDesigns client work. I’ve been talking to Duawn for a couple months now. He’s talented guy from right here in Charlotte, NC and he’s releasing his first mixtape soon! I have a good feeling that he’ll create some buzz around here in the future.

I was proud to create the cover for Duawn’s tape. As for the cover itself, I honestly have to say it’s one of my favorites that I’ve ever done. Obviously based on the name “Nobody’s Safe” you can infer that someones out to get everyone. That person who’s out to get you? Yeah, it’s Duawn. Who’s everyone? Any rapper you can possibly name. Doesn’t matter if they are a legend of the past or superstar of the present…there’s no reason to NOT aim for those who are at the top.

The cover’s background features a zombie baseball player holding a bat, while in the foreground are 3 “baseball cards” featuring the Past, Present and Future.

Drake “Started From The Bottom” Cover (#2)

Well I swear this started as just a personal project. I’ve been into hand drawn stuff lately and wanted to do a poster. I decided to mess around and try to come up with something based on the picture Drake posted on the October’s Very Own blog for “Started From The Bottom”…and then I just naturally came up with a cover a couple hours later. This obviously isn’t my normal style but it’s definitely a direction I’m headed in. I figure since Drake is trying something different with his single I might as well try something different with my artwork.

Yes I could’ve used the same font seen on the billboard in the picture, but I didn’t. This is a representation of the picture. Not meant to be perfect.

Justin Bieber Believe (Acoustic) Cover

acousticcover copy

Bieber tha gawd is putting out this 8 track acoustic album featuring songs from Believe, next month. I’m pretty excited. His live acoustic music is quite good live and songs like As Long As You Love Me sound better acoustic in my opinion.

Any way regarding the cover…I wanted to give a more mature feel to it. I’m not a fan of his official artwork and I think my version might be a step up. I may do a full packaging concept for this depending on whether people are feeling this or not. Stay tuned for that.

As always, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Keem Da Dream “Daydreaming” Official Cover

Doing artwork for clients is always a really cool thing. I enjoy working with all sorts of different people and helping to make their visions become reality. When Keem(@DreamN_2Reality on Twitter) came to me and described his ideas I immediately wanted to draw this cover and make it as if it was completely a doodle by a school kid. There’s a decent amount of symbolism in this piece and it’s honestly one of my favorite covers to date. Be on the lookout for this tape, which should drop soon!

To check out Keem’s music download his last tape Bad Girls And Funnel Cakes via Datpiff!

NBA 2k13 Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Cover

nba2k13MKG copy

The NBA season is knocking at the door and if I could I would run as fast as I could and let it in. I’m a huge NBA junkie, and avid Bobcats fan. Actually I’m a Bobcats season ticket holder this year. I believe Rich Cho made a fantastic pick with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist from Kentucky. He’ll start from day 1 and be the Bobcats star of the future.

About the cover: Well if your an NBA fan, you know NBA 2K13 drops in a couple weeks. It’s looking ridiculously awesome. I’m not really a fan of this years cover because I don’t like when there’s more than one player featured. I do like all three players(Durant-Griffin-Rose…I’m a big Blake Griffin fan also) but the covers just not working for me. Of course I had to put my own spin on it.

When the game actually comes out I’ll post PS3 and 360 versions of the cover.

Kendrick Lamar “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City” Cover #2

gkmc2 copy

Sometimes I just gotta do some artwork to put me in a better place before I call it a night. Tonight I did that and Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated project “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City” was the subject. The official artwork was released days ago and I like everything but the text. I decided to keep the Polaroid style for my cover.

G.K.M.C. is out on October 22nd. Be sure to go BUY it! Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Big Sean “Detroit” Cover (Unofficial)

Big Sean very recently announced his new mixtape titled “Detroit”. I’m a fan of most everything Sean has dropped recently so I’m expecting BIG things out of this. And no this is not the official cover. I did email it to Sean’s manager but I didn’t get a response. I got lucky that Karen Civil actually saw my Wayne cover and showed it to him. Thanx again to her and everyone else for the feedback with that project.

Anyways with this cover I tried to represent the city with the Red Wings logo made into an original background and gave it a retro feel with the way I did the writing.

What do you think about this cover? Like it better than my D4 cover?

EXTRA- Black and White version

Wiz Khalifa “Work Hard, Play Hard” Cover

WHPH copy

Wiz just dropped his new single off his 2nd studio album “O.N.I.F.C”. The song is called ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ and it sounds pretty dope. Much better than anything off ‘Taylor Allderdice.

As for the cover, the official one was LAME. I had to get a cover done real quick. In the song Wiz says “Where I come from the only thing we know is…WORK HARD PLAY HARD”. It was only appropriate to use Pittsburgh as the backdrop for this one.
